A couple days into the new month, but I do still have a list of favorites from last month. Unfortunatly there are a couple items that have been discontinued and/or are limited edition for which I am sorry if they peek your interest, however I have been trying to use up some older items in my collection to make room for newer things.
Face Products
1. City Color All-Set Setting Spray with Silica
This is a decent setting spray given the price I purchased it at( $4 at 5below stores ). I am not going to go as far as to say that it tops any of my favorite Skindinavia sprays, however for a drugstore priced product this does extend the life of my makeup. My only real issue with this product is the smell, which doesnt last long but it does smell a bit rubbery like a pool toy before it drys.
2. Milani The Multitasker Face Powder
I am not sure if this is being discontinued or not, but I found this for 75% at CVS and fell in love. It gives just the right amount of coverage that on good skin days I can get away with just a little concealer under the eyes and this powder yet it does not get cakey if I set a fuller coverage foundation with it as well. One downside is that the color range is rather small.
3. Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer in Brightener
I thought that I loved this concealer in my skintone shade, but holy cow this brightening shade is takes this product to a whole new level of greatness. I really like that this actually brightens my already pale skin. I was afraid it might be a little dark and have the opposite effect, but nope the pinky shade is perfect for a quick pick me up for this girls fierce dark circles.
Eye Products
1. Rimmel London Gel Liner in Black
I have recently been testing the waters of gel liner again. This was one of the cheapest versions at the drugstore and I know that I like the Rimmel brand so this is the one I picked up. I really like the formula, and it is super black. I did notice that it seems to be drying a bit which can make the application a bit tricky, however that could be that I have not been screwing the lid on tight enough, which is pretty important with cream products such as this.
2. NYX Eyeshadow Base in Skin Tone
I go through phases with my eye primers, usually because I finish one and move on to one of the 500 million samples that I have of other brands, this one has been in my collection for awhile now. I finally used up a bunch of my smaller sized sample primers and decided to give this one some love, and it has served me well. What I really like about this product is that it has a tint to it but it does not set so quickly that it leaves patchy spots like some other eye primers that I have tried. The consistency reminds me of a cream eyeshadow rather than a traditional primer.
3. Urban Decay Perversion Mascara
Again I usually have a decent rotation of sample mascaras and drugstore mascaras, however after falling in love with a sample of this mascara I had to purchase a full size. This mascara is one of the most natural formulas I have tried. It darkens my lashes and separates while giving just enough volume without ever getting clumpy or flakey on me. This formula is pretty weightless so it really doesnt feel heavy on the lashes like some popular formulas from other brands can get.
Lip Products
1. BITE Beauty Agave Lip Mask in Champagne
I watched many videos where people jsut raved about the Agave Lip Mask in the original formula, so when I saw that there was a special tinted version for the holiday season I jumped all over it. i was a bit skeptical at how amazing this product was until the very first time I put it on. It is a thicker feeling lip product but it really hydrates the lips and makes them look healthier. The nude shimmer color of the special edition is very pretty and wearable, it is just enough color without being over the top.
2. NYX Lip Primer
I don't know what it is about NYX this month, but I am really loving their priming products. This lip primer is great under the really creamy NYX round lipsticks which tend to wear off very easily. While it has a tendency to make matte lip products a bit too dry it is fantastic for extending the wear of glossier products.
3. MAC Lipglass in Oyster Girl
I have had this lipgloss longer than I care to admit (the scent, color, and formula have not turned so I am pushing it and saying it is safe to use still) but it is one of my favorite glosses for the color alone. I love the pearly pink shade on its own and over nude lipsticks. This month has been pretty low maintenece so I have been wearing it alone and loving it.
Other Beauty Products
1. KISS InstaWave Curling Iron
I was sent this curling iron for review by KISS in conjunction with BrandBacker, so look for a review coming very soon to include a demo of how to use this contraption. I have very frizzy hair that is a bit of a pain to manage more often than not, yet my hair doesn't seem to hold curl. It has always been a battle for me because I like the look of curly hair but when my hair just doesnt hold the curl it is almost pointless to spend an hour curling it just for it to all fall within 30 minutes. Then I met this guy, and I am not looking back. Not only does it take less than an hour to style my hair but the curls actually hold. It is just amazing.
2. John Frieda Frizz Ease Go Curlier Heat-Activated Spray
In conjunction with my new curling iron I have been using this spray to help keep my curls looking nice. This is used in damp hair and acts as a heat protectant and curl enhancer. I am not sure it my hair has been looking so nice curled due to this, the iron, or a combination of both, but I am super happy with it and plan on continuing using both together.
3. Victoria's Secret Very Sexy Temptation
I know this has been discontinued, however it has been a favorite fragrance lately. I like warmer more perfume-y scents when the weather starts to cool down and this is exactly that. I won't go into too much detail since it is no longer available, but who doesn't love a VS fragrance of some kind.
4. Ginger & Co. Soft on You Body Butter
I am so sad that I am over halfway done with this, it really is one of the best body lotions I have used. It is nice and moisturizing without feeling thick, which is frequently an issue I have with lotions. Also it smells amazing. Unfortunately this has also been discontinued at ULTA and I can't seem to find anywhere else to buy this product.
I don't really have any Non-Beauty Favorites this month, I have been pretty busy with school work so there has been little time for much else. Hope you enjoy and feel free to comment with your favorites from Novemeber, or if you know and love one of the products I mentioned.
