BLOG-Cember Day 3 : Wearable Wednesday

In my planning for BLOG-cember I decided to start a couple new series, yesterday I introduced Trash It Tuesday's and today I bring you Wearable Wednesday's. For this series I will be taking a bright fun color or unique product that might be hard to incorporate into daily wear and show you how to make it more wearable. Today I am going with blue on the eyes. It is easy to go from classy and pretty to drag queen (no offense, I love me some queens but that style of makeup is just not what most want for an everyday look) when using blue shades on the eyes. Included are two looks, one is a more amped up version using shadows, while the other is the "safe" version using just blue eyeliner.

Look 1: Blue Eyeshadow
Obviously I thought I was some kind of model :P

This is an older look so I don't have all the details for the face makeup however this was achieved using the Wet n' Wild Blue Had Me At Hello 8-pan palette. This palette is very pigmented and can be used to make looks as simple as this smokey eye with the blue toned black and a touch of a brighter blue or as intense as an all over bright blue.  An easy way to make blue eyeshadow wearable is to use it under a black in a smokey eye. Most use a brown to blend out the black, however with tons of blending it is possible to use blue as the blending shade to transition into the highlight. I personally don't usually like black all over the lid when I do a smokey eye, so I opt for a shimmery light blue silver and then smoked out the crease. While still rather dramatic for most this is a great way to incorporate some color into something that you could wear to work or everyday.

Look 2 : Blue Eyeliner
All kinds of blue going on here, eyes, hair, scarf.
The photo above does not do this look justice, it was such a dreary day that I just couldn't get a good picture where the blue liner popped as much as it does in person. So I am including some crazy upclose photos that give away just how long it has been since I got my brows done, so no judgement please, I plan on getting on that soon.

Ignore the stray hairs!!

Still wearable and simple but the blue glittery liner is enough to really bring out the blue in my eyes. This is an easy look if you are running out the door but want to put something on your face.

On the face today I primed using the Pixi Flawless & Poreless primer. Then I used my Rimmel London Stay Matte foundation in 091 Light Ivory with my beauty blender.  To conceal my terrible dark circles I applied Maybelline Instant Age Rewind concealer in the Brightening shade and also blended with the beauty blender. To set the undereye concealer I dusted a small amount of the essence 2-in-1 makeup & powder in 20 Natural Nude. To set the rest of the face I used Milani's The Multitasker Face Powder in 03 Medium. Last I misted my face with the new L'Oreal Infallible Makeup Extender setting spray to keep thing set and prevent the foundation and powder from looking cakey.

For contouring and adding some color back to my face I used the IT Cosmetics My Sculpted Face palette and the MAC Dame powder blush. Below I included an image of the My Sculpted Face palette with the shade that I use to contour with circled. Before starting on my eyes I cleaned up my brows a bit, I am not a pro with brows so I just filled in some patchy spots using the Hair Off Taupe Brow Pencil and then to keep them in place as much as possible I used the Maybelline Brow Drama Sculpting Brow Mascara in Blonde.

This palette is great, but the two bottom shades are way too dark for my skintone

To start off on the eyes I primed them with the NYX Eyeshadow Base in Skin Tone. For eyeshadow, I used an older Max Factor Trio, I used the shimmery cream shade all over the lid and as a brow highlight, in the crease I used the lighter taupe shade and then darkened the outer corner using a mix of the brown and taupe shades. Very simple but it gives the eyes some definition. Then using the LORAC Front of the Line PRO Liquid liner in Black I drew a rather thin winged liner on top. For the pop of blue, I lined my lower lashline with the Stila Smudge Stick in bluefin and smuged it out just  bit to keep it from looking too harsh. Finally I finished off the look with a couple coats of the new Rimmel London Wonder'Lash Mascara with Argan Oil in Black.

Thanks for reading, look for the new post tomorrow evening!
