I don't want July to be over.
Summer never lasts long enough.
Really I am just not prepared to go back to school.
I am actually really stressed about school but that is a story for another day.
Here were my favorite lotions and potions for this month:
Face Products
1. Pond's Luminous Finish BB+ Cream in Light
I got this pretty much for free at CVS around mid June using some coupons. I am going to be completely honest I thought this was gonna be crap, in general I thought US drugstore BB creams are nothing to write home about... until I put this on my skin. I am not crazy oily but the original Garnier BB cream leaves me looking a little shiny halfway through the day unless I combine it with a primer and some matte finish lotion and powder... that is more work than I really want to put into my face if I am wearing a BB cream. This one dries down to a beautiful luminous finish without leaving me feeling greasy in a couple hours. The consistency actually reminds me more of my favorite Korean BB cream from Skin79 as it is a bit thicker. The coverage is not full or even medium so if you have a lot of scarring or blemishes to cover you will need some concealer, but I find it is perfect for the summer. To me it is lightly scented but it is very light and fresh. The price is my only issue with this product, I believe it retails at about $14-$16 which is expensive for a drugstore product, but if you play your cards right you can get it for a good price with coupons and sales, I even got a sample of the Luminous Finish makeup remover wipes, which are very nice.
2. Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circle Treatment Concealer in Fair
This has been out for quite sometime and everyone raves about it so when I ran out of my other under eye concealer and found a coupon I decided to give this one a try and I have been in love ever since. I got this in a shade lighter than my actual skin tone since I wanted to really brighten my under eye area(I know they have a brightening version but it was out of stock when I was buying this.) It is creamy and covers my dark circles nicely without getting cakey or settling into any lines/pores. I do set this with some powder out of habit but really I don't think it needs it. The applicator is a little annoying to me because I feel like I am wasting so much product that is suck in the fuzzy sponge thing but I can overlook that since I love everything else about this concealer.
3. MAC Pro Longwear Blush in Blush All Day
It is not very often that I get MAC blushes, usually I get them when I get my makeup done at MAC to meet my $50 and that is exactly why I have this one. The MUA who did my makeup last year for my birthday used this one and I fell in love, it is the perfect flush on my skin. It is a dusty rosey beige with a touch of peach. The Pro Longwear blush is much better than the original blush formula in my opinion but it is a little more powdery so I do think that I have wasted a little more of this one due to fallout than compared to my other MAC blushes.
Eye Products
1. Milani Bella Eyes Shadows
I wish that I was lucky enough to have received the whole collection for review but lets face it I am not a big timer so I had to purchase these on my own, but with sales at Walgreens they did not break the bank. I have the shades Bella Ivory, Bella Chiffon, Bella Mandrine, Bella Taupe, and Bella Rouge. These are awesome, if you have not seen them before I would really suggest checking out this line, all of the colors I own have very good color payoff and are long lasting even without an eye primer underneath. I really love the formula of the Mattes because they are a very slight satin which makes them easier to blend but they still look beautiful without being shimmery or metallic. I am very impressed with these for only $3.99 each , especially if you can get them BOGO !
2. Maybelline The Nudes Palette
I really felt guilty about getting this because I own Naked 1, 2, & Basics and more neutrals than should be allowed but I got it for free after using my CVS ExtraBucks and then got more EB so I justified its purchase. Let me just tell you how happy I am that I did that... there are a couple shades that are not the most pigmented but I love that these are more cool tones and perform so well for being a drugstore product. I have been using this just about everyday I have worn makeup this month. I am so excited for its sister palettes The Smokes and The Brights!! I might actually be trying to get some more of these on sale for Christmas/Birthday presents for some of the ladies in my life(I know too early to be talking about Christmas, I'll stop for a month or two.)
3. L'Oreal Voluminous Mascara
Again I was way late to jump on this bandwagon, but I needed a mascara back in June and this one was cheap and I had heard great things about it. It is not going to give you over the top lashes that look like you are wearing falsies but it is very thickening and dark while still looking natural. I have been loving it on its own for those days I just throw a little product on my face but I also really like it as a base coat before using my Too Faced Better Than Sex, it helps keep it from getting too clumpy.
1. MAC Lipstick in Equality
This was a limited edition shade from like 2010 that I got at a CCO. It is a pretty sheer nude, and when I say nude I actually mean like off white, because this is a very light nude. Like I said in my post about favorite lipsticks it is not going to be everyones cup of tea and based on Makeup Alley Reviews it is not a popular shade but I love it and always have. The Lustre formula doest seem to be very popular and I can understand why, if I am paying $15 (full price) for a lipstick I want good color payoff, this is very sheer but I really think it works with the shade. See the swatches in my previous post and see for yourself.
2. Maybelline Baby Lips in Pink Punch
This is the only Baby Lips I own and that probably wont change anytime soon, this formula is nothing crazy impressive. It is just a lip balm, I think that everyone goes crazy over them just because of the bright packaging... which I don't even find that impressive. That being said I do not hate this, obviously, the wash of pink color this one gives is actually really flattering on the days I don't have time to put anything on before heading out. It reminds me of a C.O. Bigelow tinted lip balm I use to own that has been discontinued for awhile only without the minty flavor/scent which I actually do not mind. Overall it isn't terrible but I don't see myself buying any other "shades".
3. Chapstick in "Cotton Candy Swirl"
This summer has been the year for lip balm products in my book, I have actually used up more than one lip balm type product and had to throw a couple out just because of how old they were so I have accumulated a few on sale or with coupons that have caught my eye the past two months. This is one that I had been searching for and could not find a single so I actually got this in a three pack with the Fruit Punch(which I gave to my lovely mother after she gave up her Cake Batter for my grandfather while he was in the hospital) and Grape flavor. I am in love... but that was bound to happen given my love for everything Cotton Candy flavored, speaking of if you love Cotton Candy go to Walmart and get their LE Cotton Candy flavored Ice Cream right now! It performs like any other Chapstick but the scent/flavor is amazing.
Other Beauty Products
1. Philosophy 3-in-1 Shower Gel in Snow Angel
I have been working on this shower gel forever, which is not a bad thing, the scent is very fresh and clean. I love these Philosophy 3-in-1's , they lather nicely and smell amazing in the shower, and some last for awhile on the skin but not so long that they clash with my fragrance's. I have never used them as shampoo but I imagine they would make your hair smell divine. If you have never tried one I suggest checking them out, the little sets are my favorite because even the smaller bottles last forever and then you get to enjoy multiple scents.
2. Demeter Hello Kitty Fragrance
I got this like 4 years ago in the clearance section at Walgreens, and I totally only bought it because it was like $4 and Hello Kitty. The scent didn't even really appeal to me after I bought it but I kept it, because Hello Kitty. Well I decided to smell it again before I was about to throw it away and fell in love. I don't know if the scent changed because I have had it for so long or if my preferences have just changed. It smells a little citrusy but really the only way I can describe this is as the smell of any scented Hello Kitty product, it is just fruity goodness that I cant quite describe. It is still available on the Demeter website but I don't know of any stores that carry it anymore.
3. OPI Nailpolish in Down to the Core-al
I don't own many OPI polishes, mostly because the brighter shades from China Glaze just appeal more to me, but this color is like none other that I own. It is the prettiest coral with an even prettier coral-pink shimmer. It has been on my toes all summer and now that my acrylics and gel polish are off I might be doing a manicure with it soon!
Non-Beauty Products
1. Hansen's Diet Tangerine Lime Soda
These sodas are pretty pricey and only come in a 6 pack but they are literally summer in a can. I don't like orange soda and lemon-lime soda is not at the top of my list usually, but these are just amazing.
After binge watching the first season with my mom on Netflix we have started watching Season 2 weekly. It is kinda killing me having to wait a whole week for new episodes, but it is a fun chick flick type of paranormal TV show if you are into that sorta thing.
3. Bath & Bodyworks Honeysuckle Bouquet 3 Wick Candle
I love honeysuckle, and have ever since I was little and use to spend forever climbing on my little bench at my grandparents house to pick the flowers and suck the tiny drops of nectar from the flowers on their honeysuckle bush. If it were not such a pain to have growing I would love to have some again but it takes over everything. So my room smelling like honeysuckle will do for now, this is a little more floral and not quite as sweet smelling as the real thing but I love this scent so much. B&BW candles are pretty great quality, however I will say that the scent throw on this particular scent is not their greatest as it only fills my bedroom where as some of the other scents will fill multiple rooms.
