So apparently today is National Lipstick Day... and no one gave me the memo. I woke up to Instagram flooded with beautiful lipsticks which got me thinking what better day to post about some of my favorite lipsticks! I decided to break them down into four categories; Pinks, Reds, Nude/Neutrals, and Brights. Each category has three lipsticks, with the exception of the Nude/Neutrals because they are my favorites and I couldn't decide on only three.

Pinks:

Top: Vivid Rose Middle: Flamingo Bottom: Elusive

1.Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm in Elusive(205) 

This is a new product to my collection but I love this color so much and the formula is quickly becoming a favorite so when I can catch them cheap again I might pick up another color. This shade is a beautiful mid-tone pink that has a touch of peach in it, there is just something about it that looks so fresh and it really pops with my current skintone. 

2. Sephora Rouge in Flamingo

Again this is the only color in this formula that I own but I am really diggin it, very creamy and opaque. This shade was from the limited edition summer collection for Sephora so I am not sure if you can still get this one. This color has a lot of coral tones in the tube but on my lips it is actually a very pretty sun bleached neon pink. This is what I wanted MAC Viva Glam Nicki to be on my lips, I would say it is a dupe but I love this one so much more! 

3. Maybelline Color Sensational Vivids in Vivid Rose(875)

Can we just take a moment of silence to appreciate the Maybelline Vivids collection? If you don't have any of the shades in this range you need to kick yourself and then go buy some ASAP! This was actually the first color from the collection that I purchased and is the reason that I own them all now. This has the most perfect formula creamy, opaque, and just glossy enough. This shade in the tube looked a little too rosy for my liking at first since I usually wear pinks that are either neutral or very light and blue based, this is a very red-pink and it actually might not be everyones cup of tea however it is my go to for a hot pink lip.

1. Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate in 10

Another great drugstore lipstick formula, again if you haven't tried any in this line pick one up next time you pass them! I bought this lipstick for someone as a gift... and then lost it and found it after the fact so I decided to keep it for myself. This is a touch blue based but overall I would consider this a rather neutral red that would look great on any skintone (hence why I bought it as a gift.) This is just one of those reds you wear when you want to feel like a sexy bad ass bitch, so basically this is an everyday lipstick! 

2. Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in Wild Watermelon(063)

Remember once upon a time when everyone was obsessed with these? Well I may not use all of mine as much as I use to but this color still gets lots of love. Like most of the lip butters they give great pigmentation for the type of product they are but they are not completely opaque so this color leaves me with the "I-just-finished-a-cherry-popsicle" look which I actually really like in the summer. 

3.MAC Matte in Russian Red

This is another bad ass red, and a classic at that. While the packaging of mine is LE the shade is a permanent color so fear not! This is even more of a neutral red than the Rimmel one, it is the perfect color, my only issue is that it is a really dry formula so I cannot stand to wear this one for long unless my lips are really moisturized! 

Nude/Neutrals:

1.Maybelline Color Sensational in Afternoon Tea(870)

So everyone who doesn't live under a rock has seen the pictures of Kylie Jenner rocking the 90's nude lips. I must admit that I too am diggin this look and this lipstick is basically perfection for trying to get that mauve-brown nude lip color. Add some dark lipliner and a tattoo choker and your ready to go to a Spice Girls concert.

2. Maybelline Color Sensational in Nude Lust(920)

Are you tired of seeing these Maybelline lipsticks? I'm not because they are perfection. This one came from the collection of nudes that Maybelline put out this spring(correct me if I am wrong but I think the collection was called The Buffs.) There were tons of nude colors for every skintone this was one of the colors that was kind of in the middle, I have so many light nudes that I figured I should try something new and go with a darker nude and this one seemed to work best for me, it doesn't make me look dead but it still gives me the neutral nude that I go for so often. 

3. MAC Cremesheen in Creme D'Nude

If you have ever watched a Youtube tutorial I'm sure you have seen this lipstick before, it is a pretty standard light nude that tons of people love, same goes for me. This is my everyday lipstick, sometimes I wear it with some liner, sometimes with some gloss, and usually I slap it in my car on its own.

4. MAC Lustre in Equality

I believe this is also a LE lipstick but that's probably for the best, this is not a universally flattering shade, and I would go so far as to say that 99% of people would hate this color. Being that 1% I adore it, but only with other lip products. I really like this to lighten other nudes or when I wear lipliner. Since it is already glossy I don't usually add any extra on top. The saving grace with this lipstick is that it is not very opaque, the sheerness is what makes this wearable . If you are medium to dark toned I would avoid this color. 

Brights:

1.MAC Mattene in Fresh Amour

I have been obsessed with pastel lilac/lavender lipstick for the longest time so when this came out about 2-3 years ago I was thrilled, but waited so long that I actually got the last one at my local MAC counter. Lets just say I was really counting my blessings that night. This is super opaque and almost not wearable... but I love it and totally rock it in public. I have a lavender gloss from Revlon for when I don't want a matte finish. Ugh this is perfection! 

2. Maybelline Color Sensational Vivids in Vibrant Mandarin(885)

Last one I promise! I never thought I could pull of an orange lipstick, until I met this beauty. It is orange but has a touch of red which I think is what makes this a very wearable color. I would be lying if I said my favorite way to wear this was on its own.... I really like this as an ombre with red lipstick! Gorgeous!

3. Sephora + Pantone Universe Matte Lipstick in Radiant Orchid

I am so in love with Radiant Orchid everything, I mean can this be the color of the century please? Again with my purples ... I just really love purple lips! Of all my brights I would actually say this is the most wearable because it has so much pink in it that paired with a pink lipliner it doesn't feel crazy purple which I think is what scares so many people away from shades like this. Ladies do not fear the purple lipstick it is way more flattering that most of you will ever know! 

I just have to include a picture of Miss Zoe who was not amused with me while taking pictures because that meant that she could not be on the bed with me... but she is just so stinkin cute !
