February 2014 Ipsy Bag

I have been subscribed to this service since the very beginning, the reason I went with this one instead of Birchbox which was the only other one available at the time, was because this bag offered more makeup products and fewer hair products. I figured if I was going to spend the money I wanted to be more likely to get products I would actually use, some of the products are still passed off to family members but a large portion of what I have gotten over the past two years have remained in my possession, a couple have even been repurchased. If you don't already subscribe to a beauty sample program I HIGHLY suggest Ipsy. On to this past months bag...

So the bag that we got this month was super cute, I really like the solid pink with pink cheetah print on the inside, these bags are on the small side but I find they are perfect for organizing in my purse and I even use them to hold note cards that I make for my classes.

The City Color brand is one that has been featured in previous Ipsy bags, so far I have loved everything I have tried from the brand, this blush is no exception. This is a matte blush (in case you can't read the picture above) in the shade Fresh Melon, which is a bright peachy color. This is very pigmented and you don't need much to get a pretty flush, you can definitely go too far and look like a clown if you have a heavy hand. Another good thing about this blush is that it is so big. I dont believe I have another blush that comes with this much product so I should never run out! These retail on the City Color website for $2.99 each and comes in 8 beautiful colors. As far as I know they are only sold on the brand website (which you can visit here) but for the price I think it would be totally worth it to buy a couple of products.(Free shipping with $50 purchase!!)

This Eyetini Cordial cream shadow is a gorgeous color called Ambrosia. It is a taupe that has a lot of purple tones. I like that it is a shimmer/metallic finish, which is gorgeous swatched but proves a bit difficult when actually applied to the eyes. I used it a couple times and it applies rather sheer, I hope to work with this more and get it to work better for me because the color really is beautiful and it didn't crease on me at all. At $18 each I can't say that I would ever purchase any of the other shades Tini Beauty offers but I am glad to have gotten the chance to try it.

I owe 4-5 other Zoya polishes most of which have been sent to me through Ipsy. I really like the formula but like most of the polishes I have from Ipsy I dont really care for the color which is called "Dot". I own one pastel baby pink that I actually like and it is from Butter London, and even then it is so light pink that it almost appears white on the nails. I am just not a fan of this shade, it reminds me of something that a 5 year old girl would wear. I will probably swap this polish or give it to a family member/friend. These retail for $9 on the Zoya website.

I hate this. I really could leave it just at that but I will go ahead and tell you why... first of all I didn't even have enough of this for a full application. You send me a tiny tube of bb cream that isn't even full so I cant get one whole application... not happy. On top of that this is so orange that I wouldn't be able to wear it had I even had enough of the product. Maybe that is why they only sent a drop of the shit. It is very rare that I actually COMPLAIN about a product Ipsy sends, sure some of the stuff isn't my cup of tea but I think I have only ever bitched about a product I got one other time. Ipsy you really dropped the ball with this one, and IPKN NewYork you suck major donkey balls. I don't know how anyone could pay $35 for a full tube of this. So to sum things up again I hate this shit.(Which is why I am not even linking you to it, DON'T TRY IT) The swatch below makes this look way less orange than it does in person due to the flash, but it is still noticeably darker/orange.

I want to start this off by saying I love pop beauty, but I was not fond of this lipgloss. Lipgloss isn't my favorite product to begin with as you may know, but this smelled funky and the color was just not a shade that I would typically wear. It is very rosy pink, a pretty shade but not for me. When I opened it I noticed that it had a funny smell, almost like wet dog mixed with burnt rubber, not something I want to put on my lips. I did swatch this and it has a rather opaque color pay-off, I have tested these in stores before and did not notice the scent that mine had so I wont say this is a complete bust I think I might have just gotten a bad tube. At $16 each on the pop beauty website I personally would not purchase any of these, mostly just because I do not like gloss but if you do I would say check one out at a store, but check how it smells before you go smearing it on your lips just to be safe.

Lets do some math to see how much this bag was worth...

City Color Be Matte Blush (Full Size)...........$2.99
Eyetini Ambrosia Cream Shadow (Full Size)...$18.00
Zoya Nail Polish (Full Size)............................$9.00

In conclusion I highly suggest you sign up, even if you don't absolutely love every product you get I can guarantee there will be 1-3 that you do really like which is usually worth more than the $10 you paid. Also they offer a point reward system where the more people you get to sign up using your special link the more points you get to spend on extra products, you can also earn points by doing reviews of your monthly bags. Sooo... if you are interested in signing up do me a favor and use my link so that I can get free stuffs because free stuffs means more posts and more posts means I can tell you more about what to get and what to avoid, and who knows maybe if I get lots of free stuffs I will give some of it away.
